How To Increase Your Productivity

January 21, 2007 · No Comments

It’s the little things that matter, those small OCD nuances that you must find and cure in order to maximize your creativity.  One of those small matters, some would argue is a big important matter, is what music you listen to while working.

Lately, I have been listening to long, funky, jazzy, just plain fresh mixes from Beatonic and Trackwerk and my productivity has skyrocketed.  I no longer fiddle with my iTunes or wonder what song i’m going to play next.  Music is very important to me, it helps get me into the ’state of flow’. I’m able to achieve flow when listening to these mixes, as they usually last for 45 minutes, and the best of 2006 on Trackwerk is the longest at 2 1/2 hours.

Check out the music and let me know what you think. You can play them from the site or download them for free.

10 Worst AdWords Campaign Management Mistakes | evolt.org

January 19, 2007 · No Comments

I recently landed my first job as an internet marketer for a real company! I’m doing a site redesign and internet marketing for Ourisman Hyundai in Maryland. As you can see, the site is outdated and needs an internet marketers touch.

They gave me $1000 to manage their Adwords Marketing Campaign. I keep $250 to create the ads and keywords and then manage the campaign. Do you think that’s reasonable?

Right now the site redesign isnt finished, but they still want me to do the PPC Campaign.  I’m only sending the visitors to the home page because its the only page with any visiter value.

I came across this great article on Adwords while brushing up on my skills and wanted to pass it along.

Featherish Healthy Living Blog: A Great Looking Blog,

January 18, 2007 · No Comments

head.gif

I came across a great looking blog while looking for resource sites in the health niche. Its called Featherish Healthy Living Blog. Featherish.com is actually a health forum, which I’m participating in to get the word out there about my own health niche website, Alternative Health Nut.

I like the clean feel, the absence of adsense ads, and having recent posts at the top of the right column. This encourages return visitors in my mind, because its easy to catch up on the entries you missed.

Hold the Sneaky Punch, Do Blogger Blogs Have Continually Updating Page Ranks?

January 17, 2007 · 1 Comment

BloggerMost people know that the google update is coming in the next few weeks. We are patiently waiting for our site’s page rank to increase, and some of us are rushing to get some sites made. Which is why what I found yesterday on Blogger so interesting. It seems that blogs hosted on Googles blog platform, Blogger, are having the page rank updated continually. If this is true, well then, I might have to start making some feeder blogs with a blogspot.com attached to the domain name.

The other day i was on my friend’s blog, The Bangkok Gentlejerk Hideaway, as we are writing an ebook on Thailand Travel together, hoping to tap
this niche.  I lived there for two years and frequently go there.

Well I know that he just started his blog a month ago which means his page rank should be a 0, not a 2. The last google update was over two months ago and has yet to come, so this is very interesting.

It got this page rank in between google updates. I have a theory that Google is trying to make their platform more attractive and woo some bloggers from wordpress by allowing only their blogs to have continually updating page rank.

If it is possible and true, its a great tactic on google’s part.

My Review of Rapid Niche Websites & PLR PRO

January 17, 2007 · 6 Comments

Rapid Niche WebsitesIm doing the 90 day challenge held by Marc and Daniel from PLRPro and was asked my opinion about Rapid Niche Websites ( aka RNW), a windows application that turns your wordpress blog into a partial static niche site. It also allows push button css customization–in other words you can change the look and feel of a site with a few, err, clicks. I had mentioned that I had used it, and the individual lamented having to manually edit his css file on every blog he has and wanted to know whether to get the software. Here’s my opinion.

If you DON’T understand css, CANNOT code then Rapid Niche Websites might work out for you.

I think RNW is GOOD and it has a decent capabilites, and is definitely worth your time. When I first got it, I was excited about it bc it made a blog into a niche static/dynamic site. You could do css customization by just clicking a few buttons and everyone knows the power of wordpress pings and tagging system.

One of the drawbacks of the program is sometimes I feel like I am using a windows 95 application concerning the look and feel and function. It probably didnt help that i had just swithched over to mac, usng parallels to run it.

I will say that the templates included were not very good–but that since I bought it back in September 2006 there have been more templates added.

For a newbie i would recommend it because it will help you make better niche sites.

However, I would also recommend PLR Pro for your content and they also have great templates you can use. I have been using PLRPRO since it was founded by Marc and Dan, and I have to say its the only memebership program I have stuck with.  They not only give you 400 plr articles every month, but they give you great headers for each of the niches.  You get to vote on which niches you want to see written about for each month as well.

Furthermore, they give you lots of SEO and keyword research tutorials.  They are pretty good guys, both from Australia, and I have personally been emailed by Dan for my comments in the forum.  The forum also has some great information from people like myself and others talking about making money off the internet.  If you have no idea what I’m talking about when i refer to PLR articles, please download this PDF file created by marc and dan.

http://www.plrpro.com/articles/report-giveaway.pdf

So, if you purchase through my affiliate link for Rapid Niche Websites or PLR PRO, then I will give you the following deal.

When first starting out on the internet you will need websites linking to you with HIGH PAGE RANK.   This is so you can be indexed quickly by Google and so you can gain search engine ranking for your targeted keywords. This can be very expensive if you purchase a link through www.text-link-ads.com or www.textlinkbrokers.com.  The power of one way links to your websites is great, but it can be expensive…

What I am offering for anyone who purchases Rapid Niche Websites or PLR Pro through my affiliate links are 3 FREE links on my websites for 60 days.  So once you make your three websites, you can put them on any of my websites below using the keyword anchor text of your choice.

The websites are:

  1. http://highlyrelevant.wordpress.com PR 4  (Internet Marketing Niche)
  2. http://herhandbags.wordpress.com/PR 3  (Fashion/Womens Interest Niche)
  3. http://www.siamsensibilities.com/thailand.php PR 4 (Asia Travel Niche)
  4. http://firstaidhelp.wordpress.com/ PR 4  (Health Niche)
  5. http://allaboutchocolate.wordpress.com/ PR 4 (Dessert/Food Niche)
  6. http://quiltingmuse.wordpress.com/ PR 3 (Quilting Niche)

Once you have placed your order through my links, please email me your 3 website urls and anchor text to rex AT highlyrelevant DOT com.  I will then place your URL on the choice of websites listed above for 60 days.

Does WordPress plugin Google Sitemaps Hurt Your Blog?

January 17, 2007 · No Comments

This may have already been addressed by the plugin’s developer, but it seems that there could be a conflict with Sitemaps plugin and future dating your posts.  The thing is, the plugin is designed to get every single post and category that is on the blog.  So when Google spiders your site, it will find your future dated pots, essentially telling Google you are running an auto generated blog. This  is a serious drawback for site owners who future date their posts and use the sitemaps.

If anyone has any thought on this please let me know.

WordPresss Plugin Database Organized By Category

January 17, 2007 · 1 Comment

I originally saved this site on my delicious page back in May 2006, but just came across it again when searching for an automatic post plugin

Its funny I just found this site again because there has been a newcomer’s ebook going around listing and describing 115 WordPress plugins you must have.  This site has the most of any list I have seen, and it describes them as well. Not all the plugins are free.

7 Highly Relevant and Effective Techniques to Writing an Ebook

January 15, 2007 · No Comments

1. Title

It’s basically a good headline for your headbook. It needs to communicate the strongest benefit. You should have a list of benefits of the ebook, a list that appeals to emotion and desire.

Sample Titles : phrase + strongest benefit
How To …title is always a popular choice. How To Get the Most Out of Your iPod.
Ten Ways…to train an obedient dog
20 Secrets…to Driving Laser Targeted Traffic to Your Website
7 Tips for…for Clearing Acne the Natural Way

2.Write as if you are speaking to one person.
Pretend you are just sitting down with a friend and you are teaching them how to do something. Use a a lot of you language, avoid using I and Me. You want your reader to feel like they are being directly spoken to.

3. Use short paragraphs. An ebook is less daunting if a reader can skim read and get through it. Technically, even one sentence can be a paragraph. When I teach paragraph writing to my students learning english as a second language, i use an upside down triangle to illustrate the concept of going from a general idea to a narrow idea. In each paragraph the first sentence is called the topic sentence.

Use simple language, avoid jargon. In grammar we call this diction, or word choice. Don’t use technical terms that are really specific to the topic you are writing about. Of course, if you are writing a course for $2000 for dermatologists and you know they are going to know all the terms, thats okay.

4. Use stories, personal anecdotes, and examples. I try to use examples from my past experiences that makes the concept more concrete and personal. It develops a relationship with the reader, which is good because you are trying to turn them into back end customers.

5. Use your ebook to drive traffic back to your site, promote your back end, and promote your affiliate products. Throughout the ebook make sure to use links driving the readers back to your site, to read an article or another product.

Affiliate example
Let’s say your ebook is on golf, and there is a certain wood or iron you use that has lowered your score; see if there is a way to throw in a link to buy the club from golfstore.com using your affiliate id. The reader may have been considering buying a new club and your recommendation could be the tipping point to converting a sale.

Promote Your other Ebooks
If have a page about a certain concept, you could say ‘I go into more depth in my xyz course ‘. For example, I have ebook about getting the most out of your iPod, and there is a page about the new video iPods, and i plug another ebook I have about converting dvd’s into iPod video format.

Your ebook serves as a an effective and cost-free promotional tool, just don’t overdue it.
6. Use formatting tools and styles to make the ebook more interesting and easier to read. For instance, use bullet points and numbering. People like bullet points as a way to organize things. Also, use headers and sub headers to break things up into little topics so its easy to find what the reader need.

Use pictures and diagrams to explain concepts. A lot of people are visual learners and it helps them digest the material. The best site for free downloadable stock photos is www.sxc.hu.

I would also suggest a table of contents in the beginning.

Using these techniques are useful if a reader is referring back to the book or they are skim reading.

7. Convert your ebook into pdf files. Its a universal file, and it has a perceived value to it. Having a plain word document implies that your ebook is common because everyone has textpad on their computer, and you could have just written a couple things in there and called it an ebook. There is a more officialness to a pdf file, as most reputable companies put their manuals and documents into pdf files for their employees and customers for the following reasons.

There are also more security features. You can limit printing and copy and paste actions. I wouldn’t recommend disabling printing.

One of my ebooks that I am writing for internet marketing disallows copying and pasting, simply because the information is valuable to me and copyrighted. However, I suggest allowing copying and pasting, I usually find it annoying if I can’t copy and paste a document.

Pdf conversion also compresses the pictures and overall size of the file.

Free .pdf Creator
To make a pdf file, you can use pdf995.com. Once installed, its a program that shows up as a printer your printer window in word. You select your document to print to pdf995, but instead of actually printing it, it creates a pdf file. However, you cannot have live links in your document, which will

You can download the Adobe Acrobat trial for 30 days. You can also buy a strip down version of adobe elements for $100.
